1.  The A-Team -Ed Sheeran

This song reminds me of Baby because Ed Sheeran is talking about an innocent sounding girl who is a crack addict and a prostitute which immediately reminded me of Baby. She is so innocent and young and is caught up in such a dangerous and scary world.

2. Blue Jeans -Lana Del Rey

This song reminds me of how baby feels about Alphonse at the beginning of the novel. She is mesmerized by him and looks up to him. She knows he’s older and might be dangerous but she is not afraid.
“You went out every night
And baby that's alright
I told you that no matter what you did I'd be by your side
Cause Imma ride or die
Whether you fail or fly”

This line from the song reminds me a lot of how Baby acts with Alphonse because she is submissive and very childish. She just wants to spend time with him because he makes her feel special and she likes that. She doesn’t care about anything else when he’s around him.

3. Awkward -Tyler The Creator

This song reminds me of when Baby met Alphonse. She feels really awkward (just like the name of the song) because he is a lot older and doesn’t really know what she’s doing it but she let’s it happen. She does whatever he tells her to do because she’s young and innocent.

4. High For This -The Weeknd

This song reminds me of Alphonse and how he gets Baby into drugs and prostitution. He persuades her and makes her think it’s okay and that she will be okay. He is convincing and doesn’t make Baby question what she’s doing. He tells her he loves her and wants to be with her and since she is young and gullible she falls for it.

“open your hand, take a glass, don’t be scare, I’m right here.
Even though, you don’t know,
trust me girl, you wanna be high for this”

5. Nobody’s Home -Avril Lavigne

This song reminds me of when Baby is all alone and is roaming the streets of Montreal trying to find where to go and where to live. She’s trying her best to be strong but all she wants is her dad. She misses Jules terribly and she just wants to go back to how it used to be.

“she wants to go home, but nobody’s home,
that’s where she lies broken inside,
With no place to go, no place to go, to dry her eyes broken inside”

6. New Slang -The Shins

This song is about wanting to find and attain happiness when you know you can’t. It’s about wanting to go back to when you were once happy and that reminds me of how Baby feels. She wants to go back to being with Jules and him being high and telling her all of his secrets because he was so truthful and kind when he was high.

7. In The Waiting Line -Zero 7

This song is about feeling like no one cares about you and that you’re just feeling depressed about your life. No one is on your side and no one listens. Baby feels this way in school because she feels like she doesn’t fit in and everyone else seems a lot smarter and liked and she just wishes she could feel the same way.

8. Don’t Panic -Coldplay

This song is about growing up and losing your childhood but remembering that the world is beautiful and that you shouldn’t stress out about it. This reminds me of the end of the novel when Baby sees Jules at the shelter and they decide to start their life over. Even though she’s had a rough time and she can’t erase what’s already been done she is ready to start over and stay calm. It also reminds me of Baby’s childishness. He repeats several times in the song “We live in a beautiful world” which is kind of how baby views the world. Since she is so young, she sees things a lot differently than every else around her.

9. Comfortably Numb -Pink Floyd

This song reminds me of how Baby feels when she’s taking drugs. She always says she feels relaxed and happier. It also reminds me of how she feels about Jules when he is high. She likes how he is truthful, kind and loving when he is in a “high” state.

"There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon
You are only coming through in waves
Your lips move
But I can't hear what you're saying"
10. Never Grow Up -Taylor Swift

This song is about a child trying to grow up quickly and Taylor is telling him/her that he/she should take advantage of all the good things you have when you’re young and that there’s no point in rushing to grow up. It reminds me of Baby because I find that she is rushed into acting older because Jules doesn’t really take care of her and he doesn’t really care so she needs to act older which is challenging for her.
